Solomon's Story

This is Solomon.  He stopped eating one day and never ate again.  He died on the kitchen floor.  Please don't let this happen to your cat or to your family.  If your cat has stopped eating, it is very important that you read the information on this site and take action immediately.  Please don't let Solomon die in vain.  He was very wise and wants you to learn from his story.

The first thing that he wants you to know is that he had never been sick a day in his life until January of 2009, when he was 11 years old.  He was always very strong and healthy.  One day, he just didn't feel like eating.  So he didn't eat.  He tried hard to make himself eat, but just didn't have any interest.  As a result, he developed Feline Hepatic Lipidosis, also called Fatty Liver Disease.

There were no warning signs and during the short 11 years of  his life, there wasn't a vetrinarian who warned Solomon's family that this could happen to him.  No one told Solomon's family that this condition is so prevalent with cats, that 3 out of 4 cats will succomb to this at some point during their life.  (Solomon's family knows this now because three of their four cats came down with this disease.) By the time Solomon started showing symptoms of this condition, he was already beyond saving.

Another cat within the house passed on a virus to Solomon that she caught at the vet when she was having urinary tract problems.  Soon after her visit to the vet, she stopped eating and developed Feline Hepatic Lipidosis. *To read more about her, click on Bast's Story at the right.  Any virus can cause a cat to lose their sense of smell and/or appetite.  If this happens they might never eat again. This is what happened to Solomon.

Solomon hid from his family after he started feeling sick.  When he finally came out of hiding, he was like a skeleton.  His family thinks that he may have started feeling sick soon after his friend Bast began to feel sick which was sometime back in October.  Solomon knew how to hide his sickness better than Bast.  His family didn't know he was sick until January.  Solomon's family began force feeding him in January 2009.  Unfortunately, it was too late for him and he died on January 20th, 2009.  His family misses him terribly.
